1. Who we are
ThumbnailTools (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides tools at thumbnailtools.com to help creators validate and test YouTube thumbnails and titles.
For privacy questions: privacy@thumbnailtools.com.
This policy is a product-ready draft. Entity name and registered address will be updated when the operating company is finalized.
2. What we collect
Depending on how you use ThumbnailTools, we may process:
- Account data — email, name, profile image, auth provider (e.g. Google), language preference, plan, and credit balance.
- Content you upload — thumbnail images, title candidates, project names, and related metadata (dimensions, file hash).
- YouTube connection — when you connect a channel: channel/video IDs, OAuth tokens (stored encrypted, minimum scopes), and metrics needed to run A/B tests.
- Product usage — feature usage, test results, diagnostics scores, device/browser basics, IP address (e.g. free-tier rate limits), and logs needed for security and reliability.
- Billing — subscription status and payment references via our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers).
- Cookies & similar tech — see our Cookie Policy.
3. How we use data
- Provide, secure, and improve the Service.
- Run AI diagnosis, preference tests, and automated A/B workflows.
- Authenticate you and manage plans/credits.
- Prevent abuse (rate limits, fraud, security incidents).
- Communicate about the product, support, and material policy changes.
- With your explicit opt-in: use anonymized/aggregated data to improve models and cross-creator benchmarks (see §5).
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract — to provide the Service you request.
- Legitimate interests — security, product analytics in aggregate, service improvement (balanced against your rights).
- Consent — non-essential cookies, marketing emails where required, and opt-in dataset use.
- Legal obligation — tax, accounting, and compliance where applicable.
5. Opt-in product data (our moat, your choice)
ThumbnailTools improves when real outcomes teach the system what works. If you enable data contribution (opt-in):
- We may use anonymized diagnostics and performance signals to train models and produce niche benchmarks.
- We strip identifiers (user, channel, video) before aggregation.
- You can withdraw opt-in in account settings (when available) or by contacting us; withdrawal stops future contribution.
Default: opt-out until you choose otherwise. Free tools may still process uploads transiently to return your result.
6. Sharing
We share data only as needed:
- Processors — hosting, database, email, analytics, AI APIs, payment (e.g. Polar), under agreements that protect your data.
- YouTube / Google — when you connect a channel, subject to Google’s terms and our limited scopes.
- Legal — if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Retention
We keep account and project data while your account is active and as needed for legal/billing obligations. Uploads tied to deleted projects or closed accounts are removed or anonymized within a reasonable period, unless law requires longer retention or you opted into anonymized research (which is not re-identified to you).
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls, encrypted OAuth token storage). No method is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password/auth method and report issues to privacy@thumbnailtools.com.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Contact us to exercise these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
10. International transfers
We may process data in the EU, US, or other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16 (or the age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect their personal data.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy where permitted by law.
